This story is about a family who is moving. Katie's first word was "kira- kira." Her older sister, Lyn, showed her many new things that Katie had never known before. "Kira- kira" meas glitter in Japanese, so Katie used "Kira- kira" to describe anything that she liked. That really annoyed her mother, and her mother vowed to send them both to Japan one day to learn real Japanese. But the day came that they had to leave their old house in Iowa and go to a new one in Georgia. Katie and Lyn had to leave all their friends, and then create new ones.
